I’m looking for a girlfriend,
But the ‘right ones’ bore me.
I want a girlfriend who is inconsistent –
A woman who can’t always be counted on.
A woman who dreams big and fails hard.
A woman who bites off bigger challenges than she can chew.
And spits out whatever’s left at those who told her not to.
A woman who walks into a dark room with the lights off
And feels her way around.
A woman who runs when everyone else is walking
And disregards the condescending stares she receives.
A woman who’s not always there when I need her
Because she has better things to do.
That’s the woman I want.
The woman who is the distant island paradise,
That I must swim to
Through an ocean of small disappointments.
The woman who tells me not to do a foolish, audacious thing,
So she can do it all by herself.
The woman who is the ‘storm of the century’
After whom I always clean up
And whom I’ll never forget.
